Not One and the Same: Understanding Health-Related Social Needs and Social Determinants of Health

Competency: Cultural Humility
Training Length: 90 minutes

In this webinar, we will explain and explore the concept of Health-Related Social Needs (HRSN) and how they relate to and differ from Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). Approaches to collecting social needs information will be discussed, and Lifestyle Coach panelists will share practices used in different organizations to support participants with identified social needs.

This webinar was created and recorded prior to 2025, before changes were made to the 2025 DPRP Standards. While the current CDC DPRP standards do not emphasize or require organizations to conduct a social needs assessment beyond disability status, Emory DTTAC, as a public health mission driven training entity, believes that this learning content is important and reflects best practices in supporting lifestyle change program participants.

After registering, you have 3 weeks (21 days) to complete this course at your own pace!
