This podcast was recorded in partnership with National Association of Chronic Disease Directors in support of the Native Diabetes Prevention Network. While the topic and issues discussed in this podcast are applicable to all Lifestyle Coaches, the interviewee was chosen because of their experience working with American Indian and Alaska Native persons in the lifestyle change programs. Some of the discussions in the podcast focused on the AI/AN population specifically.

All Foods Can Fit: Facilitating the Lifestyle Change Program to Support Participant Food Realities and Preferences

There are many aspects of making lifestyle changes that are complicated and deeply personal for participants - and food is at the top of the list! In this episode, we will explore how we as Lifestyle Coaches can facilitate the lifestyle change program in a way that supports participants having a healthy relationship with food, honors their cultural and or family food patterns and preferences, avoids a restrictive unsustainable approach to healthy eating, and is responsive to food realities such as affordability and access.   Lifestyle Coach and Registered Dietician Torie Seymour from Muscogee Nation Department of Health in Coweta, Oklahoma shares her experiences and perspective in ensuring that “All foods can fit!”

*This episode was recorded as a part of a collaborative CDC funded project between the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors in support of the Native Diabetes Prevention Network.
